Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Augerie uses cookies and similar technologies on augerie.com. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally.

We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal. We do not run third-party advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which save information in your browser, and pixels, which are small images used to record that a page or email was opened.

Throughout this policy we use the word “cookies” to cover all of these technologies. On this site most of what we store is browser local storage rather than traditional cookies.

2. Why we use them

We use these technologies to keep the site secure, to remember choices you have made so you do not have to repeat them, to keep administrator sessions signed in, and — where you have consented — to understand in aggregate which of our articles are read.

3. Categories we use

Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function and to remain secure; these do not require your consent. They include: the record of your cookie choice, stored as augerie-cookie-consent so we do not ask you again; your language preference, stored as augerie-lang so the site opens in English or Spanish as you selected; and the authentication session for our own team when signed in to the content management system.

Functional. Remember interface state so the experience is coherent — for example, whether the Augerie AI assistant panel is open and the current conversation while you are on the page.

Analytics and performance. Used with your consent to count article views and understand in aggregate which content is useful. These measurements are aggregated and are not used to build a profile of you.

Marketing and advertising. We do not currently use any cookies in this category. We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or cross-site trackers. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.

4. Current status

As of the date of this policy, augerie.com sets only strictly necessary and first-party functional storage. Article view counting is performed server-side on an aggregate basis, and no third-party advertising or profiling technology is present on the site.

We show a consent banner because our consent infrastructure is in place ahead of any future analytics, so that no non-essential measurement is ever introduced without your prior choice.

5. Third parties that may receive data

  • Google Fonts — typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address as part of the request. Google does not set advertising cookies through this font delivery.
  • Our cloud backend — hosting, database and authentication for the site and its content management system.
  • Our AI model provider — receives the messages you send to the Augerie AI assistant in order to generate replies.

6. How long they last

Session storage is cleared when you close your browser tab. Persistent entries remain until you or your browser removes them.

Your cookie consent choice and your language preference persist until you clear your browser storage or change them using the options in Section 7. We revisit consent at least every 12 months, so the banner may appear again after that period even if you previously made a choice.

7. Managing or withdrawing your consent

You can change your mind at any time. Select “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page to bring the consent banner back and make a new choice, or choose “Reject non-essential” when the banner is displayed.

You can also control cookies directly in your browser: in Chrome, Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies; in Safari, Settings › Privacy; in Firefox, Settings › Privacy & Security; in Edge, Settings › Cookies and site permissions. Your browser’s help pages explain how to delete existing cookies and block future ones.

8. What happens if you reject

The site remains fully functional. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not restrict access to any page, article or form. Strictly necessary storage will still be used, because the site cannot operate securely without it — including the record of the fact that you declined.

9. Changes and contact

We will update this policy whenever our use of cookies changes, and the “Last updated” date above will reflect the current version. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@augerie.com.
